I was typing up some surveys of high school kids today and it's rather heartening how many of them list their favorite books as things like the Great Gatsby and Their Eyes Were Watching God, things of that ilk. Harry Potter was definitely the most popular books listed, but it was nice that there was only one person who said her favorite book was The Adventures of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Also notable was that favorite movies were not limited to stupid movies, but included really rather good movies like Vertigo.

The current hot topic here on Southdowns is "What Is Katie Going To Do With Her Life After We Move Next Summer," competing with perennial favorites such as "Harper Is Such A Good Dog" and "Does Harper Seem Lethargic To You?". (The answer to this one is almost always yes, but not abnormally.) I went to the library to get a book that will tell me what color my parachute is. I'm betting on periwinkle.

The usual topics were so funny because I can hear Chris saying them daily. :)

I'm sure you will find your parachute and a path you love. I find it hard to go through uncertainty about the path thing (I am still kind of struggling with that, even though I have a job I can stay in for a while). I know some people find this sort of thing energizing, though-- infinite possibilities...
